A beautiful soup or bean tureen in the Multi-Layer Glazes including cobalt, yellow matte and ash.  With inspiration from the handled "bean pots" that Ben Owen III's Grandfather (Ben Owen Sr.) used to make.  A beautiful addition to your dinnerware collection.
Perfect for serving soup or other dishes that need to stay warm.  Dishwasher-, microwave- and oven-safe.  For oven use to bake pinto beans, BBQ baked beans, soup, cornbread, etc., do not pre-heat oven.  Place lidded tureen with food into cold oven. Then, turn on oven so the tureen heats pre-heats as normal when baking.  Heat shock occurs when placing directly into/onto a high-heat sources.  Measuring 6.75"l x 6.25”w x 4.75”h with lid.

Multi-Layered Glazes
While Ben III was in college in the 1990’s, he was introduced to a spraying technique with an air driven spray gun that some potters use to build up layers of glazes on the clay surface. With some experimenting, he was able to create a variety of finishes using accents of three or four different colors and using an ash glaze as a top coat to blend or bleach the underlying colors. Some finishes are a base of iron yellow with cobalt blue or copper green covering with orange to silver developing from the overlapping colors. Each pot is unique. As a similar process to Natural Ash Glazes, Ben III frequently places these finishes in the wood kiln to accentuate the colors as well.

The Tableware Collection
You can find the traditional forms and shapes of Ben Owen Sr. pottery wares in The Tableware Collection at Ben Owen lll Pottery.  This line highlights shapes and forms made in a traditional Owen style of the early 1900’s folk pottery of North Carolina as well as influences from Asia.  This traditional collection has been continued by several potters who have worked at Ben Owen Pottery since the 1960’s.
The 2022-2025 line was made by potter Elizabeth McAdams.  Elizabeth worked as both the studio assistant as well as retail manager for Ben Owen Pottery during this time.
The 2025-present line is made by potter Silas Bradley.  Silas began working as a studio assistant in August 2025.

This bowl is signed with the Ben Owen Pottery stamp and initialed with EM.
