An exceptional example of Ben Owen III's Nebular Purple woodfired crystalline glaze!  This unique teapot design is directly influenced by Ben III’s time spent studying traditional ceramic art in Japan.  Ben only makes this style of teapot occasionally due to the time and process to make the post-and-lintel handle.
Fully functional, this teapot is safe for steeping tea leaves and serving into your favorite cup or mug.  Be sure to temper the teapot before adding hot water to steep the tea leaves.  Do not place the teapot directly on the stovetop as heat shock will occur.  The teapot must be tempered prior to use to allow the clay particles to warm and expand before exposure to boiling water.  Dishwasher- and microwave-safe. Measuring 7.25”l x 5.5”w x 8.5”h.
Please note: What appear to be white spots on the surface are reflections from photo lighting.

Nebular Purple
Ben Owen III developed the Nebular Purple wood-fired microcrystalline series over several years.  The outcome is the artistic rendition of a majestic nebula formation that telescopic space images portray.
To achieve this rare find, the wood kiln temperature is meticulously controlled as it rises AND as it falls, to encourage micro-crystal growth at specific temperatures and render this stunning final product.  A small amount of the pigment magnesium tints the crystals light purple while a high concentration of the pigment cobalt tints the background a deep, rich blue.  We hope you enjoy this one-of-a-kind glaze!

This piece is hand-signed by Ben Owen III with the year made (2026).
