Fully functional, this teapot is a new smaller-scale series featuring some of our unique glazes.  We hope that you enjoy your teatime with this microcrystalline teapot!  Measuring 7”l x 4.75”w x 5”h.
This unique finish includes copper and iron pigments to form results that are truly unique.  The small crystals are developed by slow-cooling the kiln.  This teapot in Stardust Green is fully functional.  A beautiful and intriguing addition to any home, kitchen, or office.
Please Note: What appear to be white spots on the surface are reflections from photo lighting.

Ben Owen Pottery developed the Micro-Crystal Glaze series over several years, manipulating materials with the potential to create unique surfaces and patterns that can be seen in nature.  Some outcomes resemble lichen on stone or mold growth on wood.  Other Micro-Crystal Glazes display similarities to a view of a collection of cells through a microscope, or, the majestic nebular formations telescopic images portray.
To achieve this rare find, the kiln temperature is meticulously controlled as it rises AND as it falls, to encourage micro-crystal growth at specific temperatures and render this stunning final product.  The glaze is applied by carefully airbrushing multiple layers of complementary glazes. The presence of titanium- and zinc-rich ingredients promote crystal development, while manganese and iron tint the matte microcrystals amber and yellow.  We hope you enjoy this one-of-a-kind glaze!
