Made from MedEx and cut with a CO2 laser system, these drying discs will last many years for pottery production. 1/4" thick by 4.75" diameter.
May be placed on top of a mug, vase, or any opening less than 4.75"dia. to even the drying rate of the wet clay, preventing warping or cracking of the rim. Also, can be very lightly weighted (with a quarter, for example) over the area where your rim may be slightly higher/uneven. Over time, the light compression with the even drying from the drying disc will create an even rim.
May also be used for creating small hand-built sculptures. Great for group class learning, these drying discs can double as a plate for individuals to hand-build and keep track of their creation.
LoriAnn Owen, of Etched Earth Designs, LLC., has been making pottery bats for Ben III and other potters for the last couple of years with a CO2 laser machine. They are very precise in size and fitting an adapter bat system. Adapter Bat is available soon.
