A beautiful handled jar in the Patina Green glaze.  With inspiration from the handled storage Jars that Ben Owen III's Grandfather, (Ben Owen Sr.) used to make. Perfect for storing dry goods, tea, coffee, etc.  A beautiful addition to your home. Measuring 6.75"l x 5.75”w x 6.5”h  Please Note: What appear to be white spots on the surface are reflections from photo lighting.

You can find the traditional forms and shapes of Ben Owen Sr. pottery wares in The Tableware Collection at Ben Owen lll Pottery.  This line highlights shapes and forms made in a traditional Owen style of the early 1900’s folk pottery of North Carolina as well as influences from Asia.  This traditional collection has been continued by several potters who have worked at Ben Owen Pottery since the 1960’s.  The current line is made by potter Elizabeth McAdams, who works as a studio assistant and retail manager for Ben Owen Pottery.

Works are stamped with the Ben Owen Pottery stamp and initialed with EM.

The Patina Green Glaze was first developed by Ben III, in the early 1990’s while in college at East Carolina, as a glossy forest green made from the copper pigment.  When testing the glaze in the wood kilns back home at the family pottery, the results were strikingly different with many variations of color and surface.  If fired in the wood kiln with no salt added to the firing, the color will be a darker green with small crystals on the surface.  If finished in a wood and salt firing, the salt will brighten the color and create more blue-green hues with random small crystals on the surface.
Truly a unique treasure!
