Handmade by Benjamin Owen IV.  The scalloped design on the base was inspired by Asian pottery allowing room for a glaze to move at the base.
Covered in a new glaze, Opal Blue, this proprietary glaze at Ben Owen Pottery reveals beautiful, variegated hues of blue.  Dishwasher- and microwave-safe.  Measuring 11"dia. x 2.25”h.

Opal Blue
Opal Blue is a Ben Owen Pottery proprietary glaze blend developed by Ben Owen III.  Aptly named for the variegated hues found in blue opals, Opal Blue Glaze offers an intensity and richness seldom captured in a pottery glaze.  Each piece displays a beautiful and unique array of blue.
Ben III reserves the Opal Blue Glaze for pieces made with a red clay body.  The dark iron-rich clay makes the perfect canvas to showcase this stunning glaze.

Benjamin Wade Owen IV
Benjamin Wade Owen IV (b. 2005), the youngest child of sixth-generation potter Ben Owen III.  Creating with clay is a way for Ben IV to carry on his family's legacy and connect with his roots.  Ben IV's work has been featured in galleries such as the Mint Museum in Charlotte, N.C. as well as the Golf Shop of the renowned Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
Ben IV is currently studying law at Liberty University and will continue to make pots for Ben Owen Pottery.  When home, Ben IV enjoys spending his spare moments turning clay in his family's studio in Seagrove, N.C.

This piece is hand-signed by Benjamin Owen IV with the year made (2023).
