This Pie Dish in Orange glaze by Ben Owen Sr. makes a colorful addition to any kitchen. Perfect for displaying non-food items such as decorative ornaments and dried flower arrangements. May also be used for serving bread or rolls if lined with a decorative towel, parchment paper, aluminum foil, plastic food wrap, etc. For decorative use only. Not for food, baking or liquid use due to the chemical components in the glaze.
This pie dish is similar to what Jacques and Juliana Busbee would have seen at the North Carolina fair in the early 1900s that attracted them to the Moore County potters where they later founded Jugtown Pottery (in current-day Seagrove). Ben Owen, Sr. was hired by the Busbees and worked for them as their main potter for over three decades. This well-preserved pie dish represents a long-standing piece of history in the arts of North Carolina!
