The Lily Jar is a classic form made by Ben Owen III. Covered in a new Ben Owen Pottery proprietary glaze blend, Opal Blue, each piece displays a beautiful array of variegated hues. The glaze was named after the incredible natural color of blue opals.
The scalloped design on the base directly reflects the heavy Asian influence in Ben III's form and design, a common theme in his body of work. The scalloped design is commonly seen in early Chinese glazed pottery during the Song and Tang Dynasties, as well as in early Japanese techniques.
