A miniature version of Ben III's classic gourd vase.  This vase is a result of Ben’s influence from shapes and forms in nature.  With an organic, from-the-Earth feel, this Gourd Vase fuses tradition with modernity.  The gourd design is a form that Ben’s grandfather made as well.  The curvature of the vase provides a lovely accent for the matte micro-crystal growth.  Fully functional, this vase works well for fresh or dried flower arrangements.  A perfect token gift, hostess gift, or, present for that little one in the family with a passion for pottery.  Measuring 2.75”w x 4”h.
Please Note: What appear to be white spots on the surface are reflections from photo lighting.

Stardust Green is a matte-crystal glaze that Ben Owen III developed over a 2-year span and approved for sale in 2012.  The name is derived from the amazing photographs of actual stardust beamed back to Earth at the time from the Hubble Space Telescope.  Green Stardust works require a kiln temperature meticulously controlled to over 2,300° Fahrenheit, with specific rising and falling temperature rates to encourage micro-crystal growth and render this stunning final product.  The glaze is applied by carefully airbrushing multiple layers of different glazes onto a piece.  Titanium-rich ingredients in the glazes promote crystal development.  Copper tints the crystals green.  Iron oxide is used to achieve the background color.

This piece is hand-signed by Ben Owen III with the year made (2025).
