Copper Red Glaze
This unique glaze color results from depriving the kiln atmosphere of oxygen for a certain amount of time. This allows carbon buildup to occur within the kiln. The introduction of carbon into the atmosphere causes a chemical conversion of the copper pigment from green to red. A completely random chemical reaction, this copper conversion provides an exciting, serendipitous outcome for each piece!
This piece is hand-signed by Ben Owen III with the year made (1998) and is part of our "Pots From The Past" release. A unique piece of North Carolina ceramic art history!
