This one-of-a-kind Egg Vase reveals the many great qualities of this exquisite Copper Red glaze. With a mottled effect featuring red and turquoise hues, this vase will become a favored piece among your collection. This unique glaze color results from using a blend of copper glazes with the introduction of carbon into the kiln. When the kiln atmosphere is deprived of oxygen for a certain amount of time, carbon buildup occurs and sparks a chemical conversion of the copper pigment from green to red. A completely random chemical reaction, this copper conversion provides an exciting, serendipitous outcome for each piece!
The scalloped glaze design along the base is influenced by techniques seen in early Chinese glazed pottery during the Song and Tang Dynasties as well as early Japanese techniques. The beautiful clay color is left visible to create an intriguing visual contrast.
A perfect gift for that hard-to-shop-for friend or family member. Measuring 3.75”h x 5.25”dia.
