{"product_id":"dogwood-vase-in-turquoise-crystalline-8-25h-ben-owen-iii-1","title":"Dogwood Vase in Turquoise Crystalline, 8.25\"h (Ben Owen III)","description":"\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e   The Crystalline finish includes cobalt and copper pigments to create a truly unique effect.  The small crystals are developed by slow cooling the kiln.  The Dogwood Vase is a shape that has been made in Ben’s family for three generations.  During the 1920s, Ben’s grandfather, Ben Owen Sr., was a potter at Jugtown Pottery.  While there, in 1928, the Busbees of Jugtown entered a vase, made by Ben Owen Sr., in the Dogwood Festival.  The vase was awarded best in the show and from that time forward, the vase was called the Dogwood Vase.  The sculptured flowers on either side of this exquisite vase honor North Carolina which later came to be known as “The Dogwood State”.\u003cbr\u003e   The Dogwood Vase is great for a display of flowers on a table or a mantle.  Measuring 4.5”w x 8.25\"h. \u003cbr\u003ePlease Note: What appear to be white spots on the surface are reflections from photo lighting.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e   The Turquoise Crystalline glaze from Ben Owen Pottery was developed over several years by manipulating glaze materials and tweaking the crucial cooling process used during the kiln firings.  This brilliant blue color is made from a combination of copper and cobalt.  Examples of blues like this have inspired Ben III from Middle Eastern pottery and the semi-precious stone, Lapis lazuli.  A range of colors is achieved through special application and firing techniques.  The crystals are formed within the glaze along the surface of the vase during the cooling process of a kiln firing.  Due to the unique chemical properties during crystal formation, no two crystals are alike.  This glaze lends itself to creating completely individualized pieces.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis piece is hand-signed by Ben Owen III with the year made (2024).\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Ben Owen Pottery","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":41433934299191,"sku":"Ben Owen III","price":165.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0263\/8692\/3575\/files\/IMG_3737.jpg?v=1736280165","url":"https:\/\/store.benowenpottery.com\/products\/dogwood-vase-in-turquoise-crystalline-8-25h-ben-owen-iii-1","provider":"Ben Owen Pottery","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
