A perfect vase for fresh flowers, or, as a standalone statement piece. The texture on the surface of this Flower Vase is created by using a bandsaw blade typically used in woodworking. While the piece is “leather hard”, the saw blade cuts into the clay to reveal a linear design. Measuring 3.5”w x 5.25”h.
Please Note: What appear to be white spots on the surface are reflections from photo lighting.
The Cabernet Glaze is a variation of the Chinese Blue Glaze but made with only one type of copper to achieve the pigment. The influences from making the Cabernet, or Copper Red, glazes originated from the Ming Dynasty type of pottery in China, in the 12th century, A.D. The red color is created by introducing carbon or depriving the atmosphere of oxygen early in the firing process. Exposure to the smoky atmosphere converts the copper glaze from what would be a typical green glaze, to a wine-red color.
